About the role

Bontech Consulting is a proudly South African, pure-play cybersecurity firm. We help government, enterprise and growing businesses predict, identify, prevent, detect and respond to cyber threats.As a Symantec DLP Engineer you will manage, maintain and optimise Symantec Data Loss Prevention environments for our clients.

This is a hands-on technical role for someone who understands data protection deeply and can manage DLP across complex client environments.You'll work closely with SOC analysts, other security engineers and clients to protect sensitive information and meet compliance obligations.

What you'll do

• Administer, monitor and support Symantec Data Loss Prevention (DLP) environments
• Create, tune and maintain DLP policies and detection rules
• Investigate and respond to DLP incidents and policy violations
• Configure and manage DLP endpoint agents and network monitors
• Ensure DLP configurations align with POPIA, GDPR and client compliance requirements
• Document configurations, processes and procedures
• Provide technical support and guidance to clients and internal teams

What you'll bring

• Must have a Matric / Grade 12 Certificate. Tertiary qualification beneficial
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Symantec Data Loss Prevention (non-negotiable)
• Symantec certification in DLP (non-negotiable)
• Solid understanding of data classification, data protection and incident response
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment

Nice to have

• Additional security certifications (CISSP, Security+, CEH, Microsoft, etc.)
• Experience with data governance and classification frameworks
• Experience in a consulting or multi-client environment
• Exposure to POPIA and public sector compliance requirements
