Job Purpose
The Department of Agriculture, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to render an advanced Animal Health Regulatory Support Service in terms of the Animal Health Diseases Act (Act 35/1984).
An appropriate National Diploma in Animal Health as recognized by SAQA; A minimum of 3 years appropriate experience (post-qualification experience); Valid registration with South African Veterinary Council; A valid Code EB driving licence.

Key Performance Areas
Plan and implement disease control measures; Render a support service to the State Veterinarian with regard to animal disease control, reproduction and production advancement, sample collection and law enforcement; Provide extension services on animal health to animal owners; Perform administrative and related functions.
Working knowledge of the following: Extensive fieldwork under varying environmental conditions; exposure to infectious diseases and biohazards; Physical mobility and ability to handle animals. Skills in the following: Communication skills (written and verbal); Investigation skills; Report writing; Analytical skills; Interpretation skills.
Remuneration
R 413 001 - R 486 501 per annum (Salary Level 8)
