Leisure and Recreation Officer

About the Role Our client is looking for an energetic and community-focused Leisure and Recreation Officer to develop and manage recreational programs and activities in Mossel Bay. This role involves planning, organizing, and promoting a diverse range of leisure opportunities for residents of all ages, contributing to the town's vibrant community spirit and promoting healthy lifestyles. You will work closely with local organizations, sports clubs, and community groups to create engaging events and accessible recreational facilities. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and evaluate a variety of community-based leisure and recreation programs. Promote and market recreational activities and events to the wider community. Coordinate the use of public recreational spaces, facilities, and sports grounds. Develop partnerships with local clubs, schools, and community organizations to enhance program offerings. Manage program budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources. Ensure all programs and facilities meet safety standards and community needs. Requirements Experience in community recreation program planning and delivery. Strong understanding of leisure management principles and practices. Excellent event management, organizational, and communication skills. Proven ability to engage with diverse community groups and stakeholders. A relevant qualification in Recreation, Sport Management, or a related field is advantageous. Ability to work outside standard office hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
