Senior Structural Engineer - Coastal Protection (East London)

About the Role

Our client seeks an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to play a key role in coastal protection and infrastructure projects based in East London . You will be instrumental in designing resilient structures that withstand environmental challenges along the Eastern Cape coastline. This hybrid role involves collaborative work within the office and on-site, complemented by remote flexibility, allowing for effective project management and contribution to critical infrastructure development in the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design and analysis of coastal defence structures, such as breakwaters, seawalls, and revetments.
• Perform advanced structural modeling and simulations to assess the performance of marine infrastructure under extreme conditions.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant national and international codes, standards, and environmental regulations.
• Prepare comprehensive structural design reports, drawings, and technical specifications.
• Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including marine biologists, geologists, and civil engineers.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in structural design, with specialized knowledge in coastal or marine engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is essential.
• Expertise in structural analysis software (e.g., ANSYS, ABAQUS) and CAD tools.
• Proven experience with concrete, steel, and composite materials in marine environments.
• Excellent project management and communication skills.
