# Payroll ManagerThis role forms part of the Finance team at Village n Life, based in Camps Bay, Cape Town.**THE ROLE**As Payroll Manager, you’ll take full responsibility for the payroll function across Village n Life’s portfolio of hotels and hospitality businesses.We’re looking for an experienced payroll professional who has managed complex, multi-company payroll operations and understands the demands of a seven-day hospitality business.Reporting to the Financial Director, you’ll lead the payroll team and ensure accurate, timely and compliant payroll processing. You’ll also oversee remuneration administration, employee benefits, payroll accounting and statutory compliance, working closely with Finance, Human Resources and operational teams.This is a hands-on management role requiring strong technical payroll expertise, sound financial judgement and the ability to maintain effective controls across multiple businesses.**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**Take full responsibility for payroll processing across all Village n Life companies Lead and develop the payroll team, ensuring accuracy, accountability and adherence to deadlines Review and approve payroll calculations, earnings, deductions and reconciliations Ensure compliance with South African payroll legislation, SARS requirements and statutory submissions Oversee EMP201, EMP501, IRP5, UIF and COIDA submissions and reconciliations Manage payroll accounting, general ledger reconciliations, employee cost reporting and payroll-related audits Administer remuneration structures, annual salary increases, bonuses and incentive calculations Oversee employee benefits, including provident funds, medical aid and group risk benefits Manage leave accruals, provisions and employee cost liabilities Maintain payroll system integrity, access controls and accurate employee records Lead payroll system improvements and strengthen payroll policies, procedures and internal controls Provide payroll reporting and technical guidance to Finance, Human Resources and senior leadership**WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR**Minimum 7 years’ payroll experience, including at least 3 years in a payroll management role Proven experience managing payroll across multiple companies or business units – essential Proven experience working closely with HR teams on remuneration, employee benefits, leave administration and payroll-related compliance – essential Relevant tertiary qualification in Payroll, Finance, Accounting or a related field will be advantageous Experience managing payroll in the hospitality industry or another complex, shift-based environment will be advantageous Strong working knowledge of South African payroll legislation, PAYE, UIF, SDL and COIDA Proven experience with SARS submissions, payroll tax reconciliations and statutory reporting Sound understanding of payroll accounting, general ledger reconciliations and employee cost reporting Experience administering remuneration structures, employee benefits and incentive schemes Strong payroll systems expertise, including employee self-service, management self-service and payroll interfaces Experience with LabourNet payroll systems will be advantageous Proven ability to lead a payroll team and maintain effective internal controls Srong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to meet demanding payroll deadlines High levels of integrity, confidentiality and sound financial judgement**WHAT WE OFFER**Competitive remuneration aligned with experience A management role with responsibility across the Village n Life portfolio The opportunity to strengthen payroll systems, processes and controls across the business Growth opportunities within Village n Life**Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
