Aircraft Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and reliable Aircraft Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician to maintain their fleet of essential ground machinery in Nelspruit. This role is vital for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of aircraft turnarounds, baggage handling, and other ground services. You will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and inspection of a diverse range of GSE, including tow tractors, belt loaders, and aircraft stairs. This position demands mechanical aptitude, diagnostic skills, and a commitment to operational efficiency within the busy Nelspruit airport environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on various types of GSE.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults in GSE and implement effective solutions.
• Maintain accurate service records and report on the condition of equipment.
• Ensure all GSE is operated and maintained in accordance with safety regulations and company policies.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and perform necessary repairs to minimize downtime.
• Manage inventory of spare parts and supplies for GSE maintenance.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a GSE Technician or a similar mechanical maintenance role.
• Strong knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagnostic equipment.
• Familiarity with safety procedures for operating and maintaining heavy machinery.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Ability to work effectively in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment in Nelspruit.
