Sophisticated Boutique Hotel based the Drakensberg (Kamberg area) is looking for an experienced Hotel Manager or Management Couple.
The suitable candidate will be responsible for the overall day-to-day operation of a hotel, ensuring high standards of guest service ; efficient business performance ; and a positive working environment for employees.
Duties:
- Oversee the daily operations of all hotel departments, including reception, housekeeping, food and beverage, maintenance and grounds staff
- Oversee and do wages/time sheets/disciplinary hearings and all leave
- Petty cash - hand to shoppers and record in and outgoing monies
- Ensure guests receive excellent customer service and have a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
- Recruit; train, supervise, and motivate hotel staff.
- Manage staff schedules, performance, attendance, and development.
- Monitor budgets, revenue, expenses, and overall financial performance.
- Implement strategies to maximise occupancy, revenue, and profitability.
- Handle guest complaints and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, security, and presentation throughout the hotel.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, licensing, employment, and other relevant regulations.
- Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and external service providers.
- Monitor guest feedback and online reviews and take action to improve service quality.
- Develop and implement operational policies and procedures.
- Prepare reports on hotel performance and provide updates to bookkeeper or owners.
- Support marketing and promotional activities to increase bookings and attract new customers.
- Ensure the hotel consistently meets or exceeds company standards and guest expectations.
Requirements:
- Grade 12
- A formal hospitality qualification
- At least 5+ years’ experience in a similar role at a high-end property
- Strong leadership and team-management skills.
- Excellent communication and customer-service abilities.
- Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Financial and budget-management experience.
- Ability to work under pressure and make effective decisions.
- Knowledge of hotel operations and hospitality standards.
- Good understanding of health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Previous experience in hospitality or hotel management.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when required.
