Trade Mark Associate

Our Trade Mark Prosecution Department has an exciting opportunity for a highly organised, detail driven and proactive Associate to join our established and growing practice. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced IP professionals, gaining exposure to South African and Foreign Trade Mark prosecution, client advisory work, searches, legal research and drafting within a deadline driven professional environment Key responsibilities of the TM Prosecution Associate will include, but are not limited to: Conducting trade mark availability searches. Attending to Trade Mark filing and prosecution matters, including monitoring deadlines and ensuring matters progress accurately and timeously. Drafting legal documents, including opinions, contracts, agreements, letters of demand and articles, and conducting relevant legal research. Liaising with clients and agents, taking instructions and attending consultations. Maintaining accurate files and records on Patricia, including correspondence, documents, endorsements, efiling information and file notes. Compiling quotes, attending to monthly invoicing of fees and disbursements, and assisting with the day to day running of the practice. Assisting with strategic brand protection advice Minimum requirements: Completed LLB with 2 years of Clerkship served in an IP firm Admitted Attorney 2 years of Clerkship served in an IP firm Knowledge and understanding of South African Trade Mark Law is essential; Experience in foreign trade mark matters would be advantageous Experience in and ability to do legal research and draft opinions Fully computer literate on MS Office (Knowledge of Patricia will be advantageous) Excellent written & oral communication skills and good command of English Must be able to multi-task Must be able to work independently #J-18808-Ljbffr
