Our client is looking for detail-oriented individuals to join as Apprentice Instrumentation Technicians in Upington . This apprenticeship provides specialized training in the installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of industrial measuring and control instruments. You will work under the guidance of experienced instrumentation technicians, gaining practical skills essential for industries such as mining, manufacturing, and energy. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of process control instruments, sensors, and actuators.
  • Perform routine calibration and maintenance on instrumentation systems to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in instrumentation and control loops under supervision.
  • Read and interpret P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Learn to use specialized test equipment and tools for calibration and repair.
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols and procedures, especially when working in industrial environments.

Requirements

  • A strong aptitude for technical subjects, mathematics, and problem-solving.
  • Excellent attention to detail and methodical approach to tasks.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and follow complex instructions.
  • Willingness to commit to the full duration of the apprenticeship and associated technical studies.
  • Physical ability to work in various industrial settings, including confined spaces and at heights when necessary.
  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification, with a strong background in mathematics, physical science, and technical drawing is preferred.
