Environmental Law Specialist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly specialized Environmental Law Specialist to join their progressive legal team on a fully remote basis. This critical role focuses on advising on environmental regulations, compliance, and sustainability initiatives. You will work with diverse stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, clients, and internal teams, to navigate complex environmental legal landscapes and promote responsible corporate practices. Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal counsel on environmental legislation, policy, and compliance matters.
• Assist clients in obtaining environmental permits and authorizations.
• Advise on environmental impact assessments and related legal requirements.
• Represent clients in environmental litigation and administrative proceedings.
• Develop and implement environmental compliance programs and training.
• Stay abreast of changes in environmental law and advise on their implications.

Requirements

• Admitted as an Attorney of the High Court with specialized experience in environmental law.
• Minimum of 6 years of dedicated experience in environmental legal practice.
• Deep understanding of South African environmental legislation (e.g., NEMA, EIA Regulations).
• Proven ability to manage complex environmental legal challenges.
• Excellent legal research and analytical skills, with strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a fully remote setting.
