Accountant

Malta based role - open to candidates looking to relocate to Europe

We are partnering with a growing international organisation based in Malta to appoint a talented and motivated Senior Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified finance professional looking to take ownership of core accounting activities within a dynamic and collaborative environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in financial reporting, statutory compliance, month-end close processes, and supporting broader finance initiatives. We are particularly interested in professionals who hold a Chartered Accountant qualification and possess experience working under South African GAAP/IFRS environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Lead month-end and year-end closing processes
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and statutory requirements
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and oversee general ledger integrity
• Support external audits and coordinate with auditors and advisors
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities
• Monitor and improve financial controls and accounting processes
• Support tax reporting and regulatory filings where required
• Partner with stakeholders across the business to provide financial insight and support decision-making

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
• 5+ years of accounting and financial reporting experience
• Strong knowledge of South African accounting standards and practical experience operating within South African finance environments
• Experience preparing financial statements under IFRS
• Strong technical accounting and reconciliation skills
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels
