Our client is a fast-growing leader in the fibre and infrastructure sector. They are looking for a hands‑on, results‑driven Factory Floor Supervisor to run daily production on the factory floor. The Supervisor leads a team of operators, keeps production on schedule and to standard, and helps drive efficiency in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily production activities on the factory floor, shift by shift
- Allocate work, manage staffing levels and make sure production schedules and output targets are met
- Monitor production KPIs (output, quality, downtime, waste) and report on them to the Factory Manager
- Lead, motivate and develop production operators and team leaders
- Keep the team disciplined and productive, and handle day‑to‑day staff matters in line with company policy
- Enforce quality standards, SOPs and health and safety requirements on the floor
- Identify production problems and bottlenecks, then fix them or **escalate** them promptly
- Support continuous improvement, housekeeping (5S) and waste‑reduction initiatives
- Capture production data and keep shift records accurate, including on the ERP system where applicable
- Work with maintenance, stores and quality teams to keep production running smoothly
Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12)
- 3–5 years' experience in a manufacturing or industrial production environment
- At least 1–2 years in a supervisory or team leader role on a production floor
- Fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English
- A good grasp of production processes, KPIs and shift performance
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team of production staff
- Strong problem‑solving skills and confidence making decisions on the floor
- Able to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment
Advantageous
- A technical qualification (N-Diploma, trade certificate or Diploma in Engineering, Operations or Manufacturing)
- Exposure to ERP systems (SAP, Syspro, etc.)
- Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma or continuous improvement methods
- Experience in fibre, telecoms or technical manufacturing
