Precision Agriculture Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a hands-on and technically adept Precision Agriculture Technician to join their team in Bloemfontein . In this vital role, you will be responsible for the installation, calibration, operation, and maintenance of advanced precision farming equipment and technologies. This includes GPS guidance systems, variable rate applicators, drones, and sensors. You will work closely with farmers to implement data-driven strategies that optimize resource use, improve yields, and reduce environmental impact. This is an on-site position that requires a strong technical aptitude and a passion for agricultural innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and calibrate GPS, VRT, and other precision agriculture systems on farm machinery.
• Operate and maintain drones for aerial imagery collection and analysis.
• Collect, manage, and analyze data from various precision agriculture technologies.
• Provide technical support and training to farmers on the use of precision farming equipment and software.
• Troubleshoot and repair hardware and software issues related to precision agriculture systems.

Requirements

• Diploma or relevant certification in Agriculture, Electronics, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
• Proven experience working with precision agriculture technologies and equipment.
• Proficiency in data analysis software and GIS platforms.
• Strong understanding of farm operations and machinery.
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with a customer-focused approach.
