About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Construction Health and Safety Manager to lead safety initiatives for projects in and around Randburg . You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive health and safety programs across all construction sites, ensuring compliance with national regulations and industry best practices. This role requires a deep understanding of construction site hazards, risk assessment, and effective safety management systems. The successful candidate will be a key contributor to maintaining a safe working environment, minimizing risks, and fostering a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement robust Health and Safety policies and procedures for construction operations.
- Conduct regular site audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
- Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near misses, providing detailed reports and implementing corrective actions.
- Deliver comprehensive safety training and toolbox talks to all site personnel.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, including the OHS Act.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and manage all required safety documentation and permits.
Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a Health and Safety role within the construction industry.
- Professional registration (e.g., SACPCMP, SAIOSH) is a significant advantage.
- In-depth knowledge of South African safety legislation and best practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and training skills.
- Ability to travel to various sites in and around Randburg as needed.
