About the Role

Our client, a prominent player in the energy sector, is seeking a dynamic and analytical Energy Trader to join their team in Soweto . This role is responsible for executing trades in various energy commodity markets, managing risk, and optimizing trading strategies to maximize profitability. You will closely monitor market trends, geopolitical events, and regulatory changes that impact energy prices. Key Responsibilities

• Execute buy and sell orders for energy commodities (e.g., crude oil, natural gas, power) across relevant exchanges.
• Monitor market conditions, news, and economic indicators impacting energy prices.
• Develop and implement trading strategies to achieve profitability targets.
• Manage and mitigate trading risks, ensuring compliance with company policies.
• Analyze market data and provide insights on trading opportunities to management.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, counterparties, and market participants.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• 3-5 years of experience in energy commodity trading or a related financial markets role.
• Demonstrated understanding of energy market dynamics, trading mechanisms, and risk management principles.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in financial modeling.
• Excellent decision-making abilities under pressure.
• Proven track record of successful trading outcomes.
