About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly qualified Clinical Pharmacologist to contribute to their research and development efforts, supporting projects relevant to the Randburg area. This role involves the study of how drugs interact with the human body, focusing on safety, efficacy, and optimal dosing. You will design and oversee clinical pharmacology studies, analyze data, and interpret results to inform drug development strategies. This position requires a deep understanding of pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics, as well as experience with clinical trial conduct and regulatory requirements. The hybrid nature allows for both laboratory/office-based work and strategic remote engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage clinical pharmacology studies, including first-in-human, dose-ranging, and special population studies.
  • Analyze pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) data, and interpret study results to assess drug safety and efficacy.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical development plans and regulatory submission documents.
  • Ensure all clinical pharmacology studies are conducted in compliance with ICH-GCP guidelines and relevant regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., clinical development, biostatistics, regulatory affairs) and external investigators.
  • Stay abreast of the latest scientific advancements and regulatory expectations in clinical pharmacology.

Requirements

  • Medical degree (MD, DO) or a PhD in Pharmacology or a related life science field.
  • Board certification or eligibility in clinical pharmacology is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical pharmacology within the pharmaceutical industry or academia.
  • Strong expertise in pharmacokinetics (PK) , pharmacodynamics (PD), drug metabolism, and drug-drug interactions.
  • Experience designing and conducting clinical trials, including Phase I studies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with teams in and around Randburg .
