Security Operations Analyst

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent Security Operations Analyst to join their IT security team in Mossel Bay . This hybrid role focuses on the day-to-day monitoring and analysis of security alerts and events to detect and respond to cyber threats. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and events using SIEM tools and other security technologies.
• Analyze security logs and network traffic for indicators of compromise (IOCs).
• Respond to security incidents, performing initial triage and escalation as needed.
• Conduct threat hunting activities to proactively identify potential security threats.
• Assist in the maintenance and tuning of security monitoring tools.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of incident response playbooks.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 1-3 years of experience in a security operations center (SOC) or similar role.
• Familiarity with SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, QRadar) and endpoint detection and response (EDR) tools.
• Understanding of common cyber threats, attack vectors, and mitigation techniques.
• Basic knowledge of networking protocols and operating systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
