Job description
Our client is seeking a dedicated Legal Officer specializing in Contract Management to join their legal department in Nelspruit . This role is integral to overseeing the lifecycle of contracts, ensuring they are accurately drafted, executed, stored, and managed in compliance with company policies and legal requirements. You will play a key role in minimizing contractual risk and maximizing value for the organization in the Mpumalanga region. The ideal candidate is organized, possesses strong attention to detail, and has a thorough understanding of contract law principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, draft, and negotiate various commercial contracts, including service agreements, supply contracts, and NDAs.
- Manage the end-to-end contract lifecycle, from preparation and execution to archiving and renewal.
- Ensure all contracts comply with company policies and relevant legal regulations.
- Maintain a centralized contract repository and ensure its accuracy and accessibility.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to understand contract needs and provide legal support.
- Identify and advise on potential contractual risks and liabilities.
Requirements
- Admitted Attorney or a relevant legal qualification with a minimum of 4 years of experience in contract law or contract management.
- Proven experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts.
- Strong understanding of contract principles, terms, and conditions.
- Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in contract management software is an advantage.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
