Role Description

The Import, Commercial & Procurement Specialist (Female Empowered) role is a full‑time, on‑site position based in the City of Johannesburg. This role is responsible for managing end‑to‑end import and export logistics, including documentation, bookings, trade coordination and regulatory compliance. The specialist will liaise with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs agents and internal stakeholders to ensure timely, cost‑effective movement of cargo and accurate commercial terms. Day‑to‑day tasks include preparing and reviewing trade documents, monitoring shipments, handling queries, resolving operational issues and maintaining up‑to‑date records in line with company policies. The role also involves supporting procurement activities, negotiating with vendors, contributing to cost optimization initiatives and providing proactive customer service to maintain strong client relationships.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Import and Export processes, including Import Export documentation and procedures.
• Experience in International Trade regulations, trade compliance and cross‑border logistics.
• Proven Customer Service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and manage stakeholder expectations.
• Experience in commercial and procurement activities, including supplier sourcing, negotiation and cost management.
• Ability to work on‑site in the City of Johannesburg and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
• Attention to detail, strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines.
• Proficiency in MS Office and logistics or ERP systems; familiarity with freight forwarding or customs platforms is an advantage.
• Relevant qualification in logistics, supply chain, international trade or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
• Prior experience in freight forwarding

Key Responsibilities

• Import Operations: Manage end‑to‑end import processes, including documentation, customs clearance, and compliance with international trade laws.
• Commercial Management: Negotiate freight rates, prepare quotations/tenders, and build strong client and supplier relationships.
• Procurement: Source and evaluate logistics suppliers, manage contracts, and ensure cost‑effective procurement aligned with company objectives.
• Compliance & Reporting: Maintain accurate shipment records, monitor tariffs/duties, and provide performance reports.
