Research Scientist - Molecular Biology
About the Role
Our client is actively seeking a motivated Research Scientist with a strong background in Molecular Biology to join their dynamic research and development team in Port Elizabeth . You will be responsible for designing, executing, and analyzing experiments that advance our client's scientific understanding and pipeline. Key Responsibilities
- Design and perform molecular biology experiments, including PCR, qPCR, cloning, Western blotting, and cell culture.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data, troubleshoot technical issues, and optimize protocols as needed.
- Contribute to the development of new assays and methodologies to support research objectives.
- Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory notebooks and prepare scientific reports.
- Collaborate with team members on project goals and present findings in lab meetings.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and good laboratory practices (GLP).
Requirements
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or a related life science discipline.
- 3-5 years of hands-on laboratory experience in molecular biology techniques.
- Proficiency in standard molecular biology techniques and instrumentation.
- Experience with data analysis software and interpretation of biological data.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple experiments simultaneously.
