Research Associate - Microbiology

Our client is seeking a dedicated Research Associate with a strong background in Microbiology to join their team in Randburg. This role focuses on conducting laboratory research to understand microbial behavior, develop new diagnostic tools, and contribute to the development of microbial-based solutions. You will work within a collaborative R&D setting, performing experiments, analyzing data, and contributing to project milestones. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct microbiological experiments, including microbial cultivation, identification, and susceptibility testing.
• Perform molecular biology techniques relevant to microbiology, such as PCR and DNA extraction.

• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure adherence to safety and quality protocols.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related field.
• 2+ years of hands‑off experience in a microbiology laboratory setting.
• Proficiency in aseptic techniques, microbial culture media preparation, and basic microbiology assays.
• Experience with basic molecular biology techniques is advantageous.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in Randburg.
