About the Role

Our client is looking for an exceptional Lead 3D Modeler to spearhead their asset creation efforts in Nelspruit . This role demands a combination of artistic talent, technical proficiency, and leadership capabilities to guide a team of modelers in creating high-fidelity 3D assets for various projects. You will be responsible for setting and maintaining the quality bar for all 3D models, ensuring they align with the project's artistic direction and technical requirements. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in 3D modeling, a strong understanding of asset pipelines, and the ability to mentor and manage a creative team. Key Responsibilities

• Create high-quality, game-ready 3D models for characters, environments, and props.
• Lead and mentor a team of 3D modelers, providing artistic direction and technical guidance.
• Establish and enforce modeling standards, ensuring consistency and quality across all assets.
• Collaborate with art directors and technical artists to define asset requirements and optimize workflows.
• Oversee the integration of 3D assets into the game engine or rendering pipeline.
• Conduct regular reviews of team's work, providing constructive feedback for improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in 3D Animation, Fine Arts, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in 3D modeling, with a significant portion in a leadership role.
• Expertise in 3D modeling software such as Maya, Blender, 3ds Max, ZBrush, or similar.
• Strong understanding of texturing, UV mapping, and optimization techniques for real-time rendering.
• Experience with game engines (Unity, Unreal Engine) and asset pipelines.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
