About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Buyer to join their established team in Durban. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for managing key supplier relationships and executing strategic sourcing activities to ensure the consistent supply of high-quality materials and services. You will play a significant part in cost control, risk mitigation, and the overall efficiency of the supply chain operations within the organization. This position requires a proactive individual with excellent negotiation skills and a deep understanding of procurement best practices, working closely with internal stakeholders to meet diverse operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead strategic sourcing initiatives for assigned categories of goods and services, aiming for optimal cost and quality.
• Conduct in-depth market analysis to identify potential suppliers and opportunities for competitive bidding.
• Negotiate complex contracts and agreements with suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and compliance.
• Manage day-to-day supplier interactions, addressing performance issues and fostering collaborative relationships.
• Collaborate with internal departments, including operations and finance, to align procurement activities with business goals.
• Monitor inventory levels and forecast future needs to ensure uninterrupted supply and minimize carrying costs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in a buying or procurement role, with a proven track record of success.
• Strong understanding of contract law and negotiation strategies.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement software.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
