Compliance Specialist – Payments | East London / Remote

A growing payments business based in East London is looking for a Compliance Specialist to join its expanding Compliance team.

This is a hands‑on role suited to someone with around three years’ experience in AML, financial crime or compliance within payments, fintech, banking or another regulated financial services environment.

You’ll work closely with the MLRO and wider Compliance team, investigating complex financial crime cases, conducting transaction monitoring and customer reviews, managing KYB refreshes and responding to Requests for Information (RFIs) from banking and payment partners.

Key responsibilities:

  • Investigate transaction monitoring alerts and identify potentially suspicious activity.
  • Conduct KYC/KYB reviews, enhanced due diligence and periodic customer assessments.
  • Manage complex financial crime investigations from initial alert through to resolution.
  • Respond to banking and payment partner RFIs, ensuring findings are accurate and well documented.
  • Research customers, corporate structures, counterparties and transactions to identify inconsistencies and emerging risks.
  • Maintain clear audit trails and support compliance testing, quality assurance and process improvements.

What we're looking for:

  • Around three years’ experience in AML, financial crime or compliance.
  • Hands‑on transaction monitoring and investigative experience.
  • Experience conducting KYB reviews and assessing corporate structures.
  • Familiarity with Sumsub or a similar KYC/KYB, screening or case management platform.
  • Strong analytical, research and written communication skills.
  • A proactive, detail‑oriented approach with the confidence to make risk‑based decisions.

Experience within payments or e‑money, managing banking partner RFIs, or working with higher‑risk industries such as iGaming would be advantageous. ICA, ACAMS or a relevant AML qualification would also be beneficial.

What's on offer?

  • Exposure to complex international payments and financial crime cases.
  • Direct access to senior Compliance leadership and the MLRO.
  • Opportunities to develop across AML, KYC/KYB, transaction monitoring and wider financial crime compliance.

If you're looking for a role where you can take ownership of investigations, develop your expertise and make a meaningful contribution to a growing payments business, get in touch to find out more.
