About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Fleet Manager to oversee their extensive vehicle fleet operations in Bloemfontein . This critical role involves managing the acquisition, maintenance, and operational efficiency of all company vehicles to support the logistics and delivery network. You will be responsible for ensuring fleet compliance, minimizing downtime, controlling costs, and implementing best practices in fleet management. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of vehicle maintenance, safety regulations, and cost-effective fleet operations within the logistics industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the company fleet, including scheduling maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
- Oversee vehicle acquisition, disposal, and licensing processes to ensure compliance and cost-effectiveness.
- Develop and implement fleet policies and procedures to ensure safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor fleet performance, analyze fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and identify areas for improvement.
- Manage relationships with external service providers, including mechanics, parts suppliers, and insurance companies.
- Ensure all drivers are properly trained, licensed, and adhere to safety regulations and company policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet management, preferably within a large logistics or transportation company.
- Proven knowledge of vehicle maintenance, repair, DOT regulations, and safety standards.
- Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management and cost control for fleet operations.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and vendor management skills.
- Proficiency in fleet management software and standard office productivity tools.
