Senior Process Safety Engineer (Remote)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their organization in a fully remote capacity, supporting operations potentially linked to Richards Bay . This critical role involves ensuring the highest standards of safety across all chemical processes and facilities by identifying, evaluating, and mitigating process-related hazards. You will play a vital part in developing and implementing robust safety management systems, conducting rigorous risk assessments, and fostering a strong safety culture throughout the company. The ideal candidate is deeply knowledgeable in process safety regulations and best practices, committed to preventing incidents, and capable of effectively collaborating with diverse teams remotely to uphold operational integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive process safety management (PSM) programs.
• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP, What-If, and FMEA studies.
• Perform incident investigations, root cause analyses (RCAs), and recommend corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain safety procedures, training materials, and emergency response plans.
• Ensure compliance with relevant national and international process safety regulations and standards.
• Provide expert guidance and technical support on process safety matters to engineering and operations teams remotely.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering , Safety Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM elements (e.g., PHA, MOC, PSSR, Mechanical Integrity).
• Experience with consequence modeling software (e.g., PHAST, SAFETI).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for remote collaboration and reporting.
