About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a talented Postdoctoral Researcher to join their esteemed scientific team in Tembisa . This position is centered around pioneering research in pharmaceutical chemistry , focusing on the synthesis and characterization of novel drug candidates. You will play a crucial role in exploring new chemical entities with therapeutic potential, contributing directly to the development of next-generation medicines. The role requires a deep understanding of organic synthesis and analytical chemistry, coupled with a passion for scientific discovery and innovation within a research-driven organization committed to advancing healthcare solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Synthesize complex organic molecules and potential drug candidates using various synthetic methodologies.
• Perform comprehensive characterization of synthesized compounds using advanced analytical techniques such as NMR, Mass Spectrometry, and HPLC.
• Conduct structure-activity relationship (SAR) studies to optimize lead compounds for improved efficacy and safety.
• Contribute to the design and execution of in vitro and in vivo studies to evaluate compound efficacy and pharmacokinetic properties.
• Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and prepare technical reports, manuscripts for publication, and presentations.
• Collaborate effectively with medicinal chemists, pharmacologists, and other research personnel.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a closely related field.
• Strong background in synthetic organic chemistry, with a demonstrated ability to design and execute multi-step synthetic routes.
• Proficiency in modern spectroscopic and chromatographic analytical techniques.
• Experience in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery processes is highly desirable.
• Excellent scientific writing and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team in our Tembisa laboratory.
