Telecommunications Field Service Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Telecommunications Field Service Technician to provide essential on-site support for their clients in the Nelspruit area. This hands-on role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing a variety of telecommunications equipment, including network infrastructure, customer premises equipment, and related hardware. You will be the face of the company to many customers, ensuring their communication services are reliable and functional. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys problem-solving in a practical setting and working independently across Mpumalanga.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and test telecommunications hardware and software at customer sites.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues with network equipment, voice systems, and data connectivity.
• Perform preventative maintenance and routine checks on installed systems.
• Respond promptly to service calls and emergency repair requests to minimize downtime.
• Communicate effectively with customers, explaining technical issues and solutions clearly.
• Maintain accurate service records and equipment inventories.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in telecommunications is a strong asset.
• 2+ years of experience as a Field Service Technician or in a similar technical support role within the telecom industry .
• Proficiency with various telecommunications equipment, tools, and testing devices.
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including IP addressing and basic troubleshooting.
• Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license and a willingness to travel within the assigned service area.
