Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Remote)

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a talented and self-motivated Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their team on a fully remote basis, supporting operations in Durban and beyond. This role is critical for the conceptualization and detailed design of innovative electrical systems for a diverse range of projects. You will play a key role in translating client requirements into robust, efficient, and compliant electrical designs, working autonomously within a supportive virtual team environment. Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed electrical designs, including single-line diagrams, panel layouts, wiring schematics, and control system logic.
• Perform comprehensive electrical calculations such as load analysis, fault current studies, and voltage drop calculations.
• Select appropriate electrical components, equipment, and materials, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
• Collaborate remotely with project managers, clients, and other engineering disciplines via virtual platforms.
• Prepare technical specifications, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and design documentation for procurement and construction.
• Conduct design reviews and provide technical support during the manufacturing, installation, and commissioning phases of projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant technical field.
• Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in electrical system design and engineering.
• Proficiency in electrical CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks Electrical) and simulation tools.
• Solid understanding of electrical codes (e.g., SANS, IEC) and safety standards.
• Experience with PLC programming, VFDs, and industrial automation is a plus.
• Exceptional ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and communicate clearly in a remote setting.
