Senior Biologist - Cell Culture

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Establish, maintain, and scale up various mammalian and microbial cell lines for research purposes.
• Develop and optimize cell culture protocols for specific experimental needs, including differentiation and high‑throughput screening.
• Perform complex cell‑based assays, such as viability, proliferation, and functional assays.
• Contribute to experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation, providing key insights.
• Troubleshoot cell culture and assay‑related issues, ensuring data integrity and reproducibility.
• Mentor and guide junior biologists and research associates in cell culture techniques and experimental procedures.

Requirements

• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Biology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of hands‑on experience in mammalian cell culture and cell‑based assays.
• Demonstrated expertise in aseptic techniques and management of primary cell cultures and immortalized cell lines.
• Experience with techniques such as flow cytometry, ELISA, and microscopy is highly beneficial.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities, suitable for our Mahikeng operations.
