Environmental Engineer

Our client is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Environmental Engineer to join their team in Randburg. This hybrid role involves a combination of fieldwork, site assessments, and remote office-based work, focusing on environmental compliance, impact assessment, and sustainable development solutions. You will play a key role in ensuring projects meet environmental standards, managing pollution control, and advising on best practices for environmental stewardship. This position is ideal for an engineer committed to environmental protection and who can effectively navigate both remote and on-site project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Environmental Management Plans (EMPs).
• Develop and implement strategies for pollution control, waste management, and site remediation.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental legislation and regulations.
• Perform site investigations, monitoring, and data analysis related to soil, water, and air quality.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities, clients, and stakeholders on environmental matters.
• Provide technical expertise on environmental best practices for civil engineering and industrial projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in environmental consulting or engineering.
• Registration as a Professional Scientist (Pr Sci Nat) or Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of South African environmental legislation and permitting processes.
• Experience with environmental modeling and monitoring techniques.
• Excellent communication, report writing, and problem-solving skills for a hybrid work environment.
