Global Freight Forwarder - Optimize Shipments & Negotiate Rates

Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Freight Forwarder to manage the movement of goods internationally and domestically from their offices in Sandton . This role involves coordinating with carriers, customs brokers, and clients to ensure the efficient, cost-effective, and timely transport of shipments. You will be responsible for handling all aspects of the freight forwarding process, from booking shipments to managing documentation and resolving any logistical challenges that arise, ensuring seamless global trade operations for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Arrange and book international and domestic freight shipments via air, sea, and road.
• Prepare and process all necessary shipping documentation, including customs declarations and bills of lading.
• Liaise with clients, overseas agents, carriers, and customs authorities to manage shipment progress.
• Negotiate freight rates with carriers and service providers to secure competitive pricing.
• Monitor shipments and provide timely updates to clients regarding status and estimated arrival times.
• Resolve any issues or discrepancies that arise during transit, such as delays or damaged goods.

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of experience in freight forwarding or international logistics.
• In-depth knowledge of international shipping regulations, customs procedures, and trade compliance.
• Proficiency with freight forwarding software and general office applications.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and partners.
• Strong understanding of different modes of transport and their associated logistics.
