Junior Mechanical Designer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Junior Mechanical Designer to join their team in Port Elizabeth. This role operates on a hybrid model, allowing for a blend of office-based collaboration and remote work flexibility. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers to create and modify 3D models and 2D drawings for mechanical components and assemblies. Key Responsibilities

• Create and update 3D models and detailed 2D drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
• Assist senior engineers in the design and development of new mechanical parts and assemblies.
• Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) and ensure accurate documentation for engineering changes.
• Participate in design reviews and provide input based on design for manufacturability principles.
• Support prototype development and testing activities, documenting results.
• Maintain and organize design data and engineering documentation.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or a related technical field.
• 0-3 years of experience in mechanical design or drafting, preferably with CAD software.
• Proficiency with at least one major CAD package (e.g., SolidWorks).
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and materials.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in technical documentation.
• Good communication skills and willingness to learn and collaborate in a team setting.
