Lead Pharmacist: Compounding & Dispensing Excellence

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Pharmacist to lead their compounding and dispensing services in Vereeniging. This role requires exceptional clinical knowledge, meticulous attention to detail, and strong leadership capabilities. You will be responsible for overseeing the accurate and safe preparation of customized medications, managing the dispensing process, and ensuring compliance with all professional and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will be passionate about patient care and dedicated to maintaining the highest quality standards in pharmaceutical services within Gauteng.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and perform complex compounding of customized medications according to physician prescriptions and established formulas.
• Ensure the accurate and efficient dispensing of prescription medications, verifying dosage, instructions, and patient information.
• Maintain rigorous quality control standards for all compounded and dispensed medications, including sterile preparations if applicable.
• Manage inventory of pharmaceutical supplies, chemicals, and equipment, ensuring proper storage and handling.
• Provide expert pharmaceutical advice to patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
• Supervise and mentor junior pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, fostering a culture of learning and best practice.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Pharmacy degree and current registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmacy practice, with significant experience in compounding and dispensing.
• In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical sciences, drug interactions, and pharmacotherapy.
• Experience with aseptic technique and sterile compounding is highly advantageous.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in pharmacy management software and standard dispensing technologies.
