Engineering Lead (Cape Town)

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Lead to play a critical role in leading our IT engineering function, maintaining and enhancing technology platforms and ensuring seamless digital experiences across all customer touchpoints.

You will lead a talented team of engineers while collaborating closely with Product, Technology and other cross-functional stakeholders to drive the strategic direction and execution of key technology initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous learning.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and execute the technical roadmap, ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer needs.
• Drive the design, development and optimisation of platforms , ensuring scalability, reliability and security.
• Provide strong technical guidance and support to ensure the successful delivery of projects on time and within budget.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies , evaluating their potential impact and relevance to the business.
• Partner with Product Managers and key stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions, driving alignment and execution.
• Implement best practices, processes and tools to streamline development workflows and improve engineering efficiency.
• Monitor and analyse platform performance metrics , identifying opportunities for optimisation and continuous improvement to enhance the customer experience.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field .
• Proven experience in software development and technical leadership , with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects.
• Strong leadership and communication skills , with the ability to inspire, develop and motivate engineering teams.
• Deep understanding of software architecture, design patterns and development best practices , with hands-on experience across both backend and frontend development.
• Experience working with cloud platforms , such as AWS and/or Azure, together with modern development frameworks and tools.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills , with a passion for driving technical excellence and innovation.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment , effectively prioritising and managing multiple projects and competing priorities.
