About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Remote Soil Scientist to join their innovative agricultural solutions team, working from anywhere in South Africa . This position will focus on analyzing soil data, developing soil management strategies, and providing expert recommendations to optimize land use and agricultural productivity. You will leverage advanced analytics and remote sensing technologies to assess soil health, nutrient levels, and water retention capabilities, contributing to sustainable farming practices on a national scale. Key Responsibilities

• Analyze soil samples and interpret data from various sources, including lab results, field tests, and remote sensing imagery.


• Develop scientifically-grounded soil management plans, including recommendations for fertilization, irrigation, and soil conservation.


• Assess soil conditions for suitability for different crops and agricultural practices.


• Provide expert advice on soil remediation techniques for degraded lands.


• Collaborate with agronomists, farm managers, and environmental consultants to integrate soil health strategies.


• Research and stay updated on the latest advancements in soil science, soil physics, and soil chemistry.


• Prepare detailed reports and presentations on soil analysis findings and recommendations.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in Soil Science, Agronomy, Environmental Science, or a closely related field.


• Minimum of 6 years of experience in soil analysis, soil management, and related research.


• Expertise in soil chemistry, soil physics, and soil biology.


• Proficiency in data analysis, statistical modeling, and geographic information systems (GIS).


• Experience with remote sensing data interpretation for soil and land use assessment.


• Strong report writing and communication skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
