About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Credit Analyst to join their robust credit department in Pretoria . This role is fundamental to evaluating the creditworthiness of potential borrowers and managing the existing loan portfolio to minimize risk. You will be responsible for analyzing financial statements, assessing borrower risk, and making informed recommendations on loan approvals and terms. This position requires a meticulous individual with a strong understanding of financial risk and credit markets to support sound lending decisions within a leading financial institution.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough analysis of financial statements, credit reports, and market data to assess borrower risk.
• Prepare detailed credit memos and present recommendations on loan applications to the credit committee.
• Monitor the performance of the existing loan portfolio, identifying potential defaults and taking proactive measures.
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients to gather necessary information and assess ongoing credit exposure.
• Ensure adherence to the bank's credit policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Stay abreast of market trends and economic conditions impacting credit risk.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Credit Analyst or in a similar credit-focused role.
• Strong understanding of financial statement analysis, cash flow evaluation, and risk assessment techniques.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with credit scoring systems or loan origination software.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of lending regulations and compliance standards is essential.
