Senior AI Engineer - Johannesburg - up to R1.2mil per annum

Our client, a leading financial services organisation, is looking for a Senior AI Engineer who can take sophisticated AI and data concepts and turn them into real, scalable, production-grade solutions.

You’ll operate at the intersection of AI, software engineering, data and enterprise architecture, developing solutions designed to deliver measurable business impact across a large and complex organisation.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop and deploy production-grade AI solutions
• Build Generative AI, LLM and Machine Learning applications
• Develop data pipelines, AI platforms and enterprise integrations
• Integrate AI capabilities with existing business systems and APIs
• Take ownership from architecture through development, deployment and optimisation
• Develop scalable, secure and maintainable solutions
• Apply MLOps, DevOps and CI/CD practices
• Support Responsible AI, data governance and enterprise architecture
• Collaborate with technical and business teams to deliver measurable outcomes

Qualifications & Experience:

• Relevant degree in Computer Science, Engineering, AI, Data Science or related field
• 10+ years' software engineering experience.
• 2+ years' experience in AI, ML, Data or Automation Engineering.
• Strong Python development skills.
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML and Generative AI/LLM solutions.
• Experience designing data pipelines and data platforms.
• Strong API and enterprise integration experience.
• Proven experience taking solutions into production.
• Experience with Azure, C# and .NET.
• Strong CI/CD, DevOps or MLOps experience.

The Reference Number for this position is NG61515 which is a Permanent, Hybrid role in Johannesburg offering a salary of up to R1.2mil per annum salary negotiable based on experience.
