Aviation Ground Support Equipment Technician

About the Role

Our client is looking for a proactive and skilled Aviation Ground Support Equipment Technician to join their team, supporting operations in the Klerksdorp area. In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of a wide range of ground support equipment essential for aircraft operations, including baggage tractors, aircraft tugs, belt loaders, and more. This position requires a hands-on approach and a strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. While the primary focus is on equipment servicing, some operational oversight may require remote communication and reporting, making this role adaptable.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on all types of aviation ground support equipment (GSE).
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on GSE fleet.
• Conduct safety checks and preventative maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and operator safety.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, parts usage, and equipment status.
• Operate GSE safely and efficiently when required for testing or positioning.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and operational procedures for ground support operations.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Technician specializing in heavy machinery, automotive, or ground support equipment .
• Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Good communication skills for reporting issues and coordinating repairs.
• Commitment to safety and a willingness to work flexible hours if required, with the ability to contribute effectively in a remote support capacity when needed.
