Safety Officer - Mine Operations

About the Role

Our client requires a vigilant Safety Officer to join their mining operations in the Polokwane area. This role is paramount in ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel, focusing on hazard identification, risk assessment, and the implementation of robust safety protocols. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and non-compliance.
• Develop, implement, and maintain the site's health and safety management system.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide safety training and toolbox talks to all site personnel.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements.

Requirements

• National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Safety Officer in a mining or heavy industrial environment.
• Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and incident investigation techniques.
• Strong understanding of relevant health and safety legislation.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
