About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Remote Automotive Software Developer to join their advanced R&D team, operating in a remote-first capacity with coordination from Bloemfontein . This position focuses on developing embedded software for next-generation automotive systems, including infotainment, driver assistance, and vehicle control units. You will contribute to the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to implementation, testing, and deployment. This is a unique opportunity to work on innovative automotive technologies from the comfort of your home office.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement robust embedded software for automotive ECUs using C/C++.
- Write efficient, maintainable, and well-documented code following automotive industry standards (e.g., MISRA C).
- Develop and execute unit tests and integration tests to ensure software quality and reliability.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers and system architects to define software requirements and architecture.
- Participate in code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting of complex software issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in embedded software development, with at least 3 years in the automotive sector.
- Strong proficiency in C/C++ and experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
- Familiarity with automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, and Automotive Ethernet.
- Experience with software development tools, version control systems (Git), and debugging techniques.
