About the Role
Our client is looking for a proactive and knowledgeable Legal Officer specializing in compliance and risk management to join their team in Paarl . This role is crucial for ensuring the company adheres to all relevant legal and regulatory frameworks, thereby minimizing operational and legal risks. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance programs, conducting risk assessments, and providing strategic advice to senior management. The successful candidate will possess a keen understanding of South African legal requirements and a proven track record in risk mitigation strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement robust compliance policies and procedures across the organization.
- Conduct regular legal and regulatory risk assessments and identify potential areas of non-compliance.
- Monitor changes in legislation and regulatory requirements and advise on necessary actions.
- Investigate compliance issues and breaches, recommending and implementing corrective measures.
- Prepare compliance reports for senior management and regulatory bodies.
- Liaise with external legal counsel and auditors on compliance matters.
Requirements
- Admitted Attorney or qualified legal professional with a minimum of 5 years of experience in compliance and risk management .
- In-depth knowledge of South African corporate law, regulatory frameworks, and industry-specific legislation.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing effective compliance programs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
