Geophysicist - Seismic Interpretation

Our client is seeking a talented Geophysicist with expertise in seismic interpretation to join their exploration team based in Durban. This role is crucial for identifying and evaluating potential hydrocarbon prospects. You will be responsible for processing, analyzing, and interpreting seismic data to understand subsurface geological structures and identify viable targets for exploration and development within the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform seismic data processing and quality control to ensure data integrity.
• Interpret 2D and 3D seismic data to identify geological structures, faults, and stratigraphic traps.
• Integrate seismic data with well logs, core data, and other geological information.
• Generate prospect maps and geological models for exploration and appraisal opportunities.
• Utilize state-of-the-art geophysical software and interpretation workstations.
• Collaborate with geologists and reservoir engineers to contribute to field development plans.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Geophysics or a related earth science discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in seismic interpretation , with a focus on exploration.
• Proficiency with seismic interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom, GeoGraphix).
• Strong knowledge of seismic acquisition, processing, and attribute analysis.
• Excellent geological understanding and ability to integrate multidisciplinary data.
• Experience in the South African offshore or onshore basins is advantageous.
