About the Role
Our client is looking for a skilled and experienced Agricultural Equipment Technician to join their team in Upington. This role is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of a wide range of agricultural machinery and equipment, ensuring they operate efficiently and reliably. You will perform diagnostics, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, and conduct routine maintenance to prevent breakdowns. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical aptitude, hands-on experience with farm machinery, and a commitment to ensuring the operational readiness of critical equipment. This is an essential role supporting the productivity of our client's agricultural operations through expert technical support and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic testing and troubleshooting on various agricultural machines, including tractors, harvesters, and irrigation systems.
- Conduct routine maintenance, repairs, and servicing on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Identify and source necessary parts and materials for repairs, managing inventory efficiently.
- Ensure all repaired equipment meets performance and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities.
- Advise farm operators on proper equipment usage and preventative maintenance practices.
Requirements
- Trade qualification as a Mechanic or Technician, preferably with specialization in agricultural machinery.
- Proven experience as an Agricultural Equipment Technician or similar role.
- Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and vehicle mechanics.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to different farm sites as needed.
