Fleet Maintenance Manager - Automotive

About the Role

Our client requires a proactive and experienced Fleet Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance operations for their extensive vehicle fleet based in Richards Bay. This leadership role involves managing a team of technicians, ensuring fleet availability, controlling maintenance costs, and implementing preventative maintenance programs to maximize operational efficiency. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in fleet management and automotive maintenance to maintain a safe, reliable, and cost-effective fleet for operations in the KwaZulu-Natal region.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive preventative maintenance schedules for the entire fleet.
• Manage and mentor a team of automotive technicians and support staff.
• Oversee daily workshop operations, ensuring efficient workflow and timely repairs.
• Control maintenance budgets, track expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Maintain accurate fleet maintenance records and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Source and manage relationships with external parts suppliers and service providers.

Requirements

• Proven experience in fleet management or automotive workshop supervision.
• Strong knowledge of diverse vehicle types, maintenance requirements, and repair procedures.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in fleet management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with budget management and cost control strategies.
• A relevant qualification in Automotive Engineering or Business Management is advantageous.
