Aquatics Manager

About the Role

Our client, a prominent sports and fitness facility in Port Elizabeth, is seeking a dedicated and certified Aquatics Manager to oversee all aspects of its aquatic programs and facilities. This role requires a passionate leader committed to ensuring the safety, enjoyment, and development of participants in swimming lessons, fitness classes, and competitive swimming activities. The Aquatics Manager will be responsible for lifeguard supervision, program development, and maintaining the highest standards of pool operations and safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage a diverse range of aquatic programs, including swim lessons, water aerobics, and competitive team support.


• Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise a team of certified lifeguards and instructors.


• Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations, emergency procedures, and pool maintenance protocols.


• Manage the aquatic budget, including staffing, supplies, and equipment costs.


• Promote aquatic programs to members and the wider community to drive participation.


• Conduct regular safety audits and provide ongoing training for all aquatic staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Recreation, or a related field, or equivalent experience.


• Current Lifeguard and CPR/First Aid certifications are mandatory.


• Previous experience in managing aquatic facilities or programs, including staff supervision.


• Strong knowledge of pool operations, water quality management, and safety standards.


• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.


• Experience with competitive swimming programs is highly desirable.
