About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Mine Planning Engineer to join their team in Bloemfontein, Free State . This role is pivotal in developing and executing long-term and short-term mine plans that ensure efficient, safe, and economically sound extraction of resources. You will work on strategic planning, mine design optimization, and resource utilization, collaborating with various departments to achieve operational targets within the mining sector. Key Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive long-term and short-term mine plans, including pit designs, production schedules, and waste management strategies.
• Utilize advanced mine planning software (e.g., Vulcan, Deswik) to optimize mine layouts and sequences.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic analyses for mine development and expansion projects.
• Collaborate with geologists, surveyors, and operations teams to ensure accurate data integration and plan execution.
• Monitor mine performance against plans, identify variances, and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations for mining operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in mine planning, design, and operations.
• Proficiency in industry-standard mine planning and modeling software.
• Strong understanding of open-pit or underground mining methods and their associated planning requirements.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model, balancing office-based collaboration in Bloemfontein with remote analytical tasks.
