Remote Drilling Operations Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Remote Drilling Operations Manager to oversee drilling and completion operations for their projects, with a focus on assets in the Mahikeng, North West region. This is a senior leadership role, responsible for ensuring all drilling activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards and company policies. As a remote position, you will manage teams and operations virtually, providing strategic direction and operational oversight to field personnel. This role demands strong leadership, extensive technical expertise, and the ability to manage complex projects from a distance within the Oil & Gas industry .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic drilling and completion plans, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
• Oversee the execution of all drilling operations, managing contractors and service providers.
• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) policies and procedures.
• Manage drilling budgets, cost control, and resource allocation effectively.
• Monitor operational performance, analyze KPIs, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to drilling engineers and supervisors, fostering a high-performance culture.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related technical field; Master's preferred.
• 12+ years of progressive experience in drilling operations, with significant management responsibilities.
• Extensive knowledge of drilling engineering principles, well control, and HSE best practices.
• Proven experience managing complex drilling projects and large budgets.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage teams and operations effectively in a remote capacity.
