Senior Process Engineer - Petrochemicals

About the Role

Our client, a key player in the oil and gas industry , is seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Engineer to join their dynamic team based in Midrand, Gauteng . This role is critical for optimizing and developing complex chemical processes within their petrochemical operations. You will be instrumental in ensuring the efficiency, safety, and profitability of our client's plant operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of process simulation, thermodynamic principles, and large-scale industrial plant management, contributing directly to strategic operational goals and technological advancements in a challenging yet rewarding environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, design, and implement process improvements for petrochemical operations, focusing on yield enhancement and cost reduction.
• Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments for new projects and process modifications.
• Utilize advanced process simulation software to model, analyze, and optimize plant performance.
• Troubleshoot complex operational issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to operational teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in process engineering within the oil and gas or petrochemical sector .
• Proven expertise in process simulation tools (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and P&ID development.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics , and reaction kinetics.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Experience with HAZOP studies and safety management systems.
