Aviation Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and reliable Aviation Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician to maintain and repair their fleet of essential ground support vehicles and equipment in Vereeniging . This role is vital for ensuring the efficient and safe turnaround of aircraft, as well as the smooth operation of ground services. You will be responsible for the preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a wide range of GSE, including baggage tractors, belt loaders, pushback tugs, and aircraft service vehicles. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on mechanic with experience in diesel and electrical systems, committed to keeping critical airport equipment operational.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance and inspections on all assigned Aviation Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on GSE using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Maintain accurate logs and records of all maintenance performed, parts used, and equipment status.
• Ensure all GSE meets safety standards and operational requirements before deployment.
• Respond to emergency repair calls to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity.
• Operate a variety of GSE safely during testing and maintenance procedures.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a mechanic, preferably with a focus on heavy equipment, automotive, or aviation ground support.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, and relevant diagnostic tools.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and repair guides.
• Possession of a valid driver's license; experience operating heavy machinery is advantageous.
• Good problem‑solving skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
